Galway United edge out battling Finn Harps in EA Sports Cup
The home side took the lead in the 22nd minute when Padraic Cunningham fired home from six yards. Galway doubled their lead in the 37th minute when Molloy picked out Gary Shanahan at the back post and he smashed the ball home.
The visitors did pull a goal back in the 58th minute, McGroary firing home from close range.
Galway restored their two-goal advantage in the 68th minute when Jake Keegan was bundled over in the box and the club’s top scorer last season made no mistake from the penalty spot. Cowan reduced arrears again the 78th minute when Keith Cowan volleyed home from 14 yards.
