Liverpool are closing in on a deal to bring maverick striker Mario Balotelli back to England from AC Milan.

The two clubs are understood to have agreed a £16 million (€20m) fee for the headline-grabbing former Manchester City forward.

The news emerged after Balotelli told Sky Italia that yesterday would be his last day at the club’s Milanello training ground.
