City seek seaside cheer
After falling to their third defeat of the campaign away to Dundalk on Friday night, Tommy Dunne’s side will be looking to pick up their first victory in six against the Seagulls, who currently reside in 11th on just four points.
While Dunne said it was their worst performance in some time, City were shorn of defenders in Dundalk, with Colin Healy and Garry Buckley having to fill in at centre-half. And those problems continue heading to the seaside as they are without Dan Murray, work commitments once again ruling him out of away games, and skipper Kevin Murray, who remains sidelined with a groin injury.
Darren Dennehy and John Dunleavy are doubts after being struck down with tonsillitis.
Dunne says it’s a game that City need to win to ‘kickstart’ their season: “If it continues the way it has done then we are going to have a tough year. We have to get going, we have to pick up three points and we have to get back to trying to dominate matches.”
Meanwhile, at Richmond Park, St Patrick’s Athletic can close the gap on leaders Sligo Rovers to three points with a win over Bohemians in a re-fixed Dublin derby.
Liam Buckley’s side come into the game on the back of a 1-1 draw with second-placed Derry City on Friday night. But they had won their four previous games, keeping clean sheets in the process, and will be expected to continue their good form against a Bohs side that secured their first win in four at home to Bray on Friday.
