Blackburn holding off on new boss
Roy Keane, who this week turned down a managerial post in Turkey, is one of a number of prominent names who have been linked to the position of successor to Steve Kean at Ewood Park but, according to the clubâs global advisor, all potential candidates will be obliged to cool their heels at least until todayâs home game against Wolves is firmly out of the way.
Said Shebby Singh: âNothing official has emerged from the club in terms of who we want as manager.
âWe have a big game against Wolves, we have Eric Black in charge and then after that game we shall sit down and decide what to do about the manager. That is not to say we donât have a plan, we do, but next week is time to sort out where we go with it. We have not spoken to anyone directly and all matters such as this are sensitive so there will be no comment from the club.â
Despite reports of interference from the clubâs owners in team affairs since the Venky family took over at Ewood, Singh insisted the new manager should have no such concerns.
âOver the last few days I have been pleasantly surprised by the calibre of people who want to become Blackburn Rovers manager,â he said, âdespite the fact it has been portrayed as the last place any manager would want to come to. People will believe what they want to believe, but we had a manager here and he was picking the team â we have Eric Black in charge of the team and he is picking the team and the tactics. All along we have given the manager all the support we can. We have always given our support to the man in charge of the team.â
