Injured O’Shea set to be fit for Euro 2012

Sunderland’s John O’Shea is likely to be fit for the European Championships.

The defender injured his ankle ligaments before half-time in their game against Manchester United yesterday.

Sources last night insisted that the problem was not as serious as first feared.

Sunderland manager Martin O’Neill had expressed concern in his post-match interview: “As he came off, that was my thought. I thought it might be a concern. He didn’t feel comfortable.

“He started to feel his injury and didn’t feel confident about moving on it. I haven’t checked with the physio, though, and may be jumping the gun.”
