Meyler looks for fitness boost with US rehab

WHILE the Republic of Ireland were boosting their Euro 2012 qualification hopes with a Robbie Keane-inspired win over Macedonia in Skopje, the man who may one day be the answer to Giovanni Trapattoni’s midfield prayers was en route to America.

Sunderland midfielder David Meyler flew to America on Saturday to begin a month of rehabilitation aimed at finally curing his long-standing knee problem.

The luckless Corkman has been out since January after re-injuring his knee ligaments just a month after returning to the first-team picture after a seven-month lay-off.
