Rooney incurs the wrath of RTÉ pundits

RTÉ pundits Liam Brady and John Giles last night hit out at Wayne Rooney after the striker issued a statement confirming he wants to leave Manchester United.

In a hard-hitting statement Rooney accused United of lacking ambition but didn’t comment on reports that his unhappiness at Old Trafford was linked to the terms of a contract extension he was offered by the club.

Both Brady and Giles argued that the omission of any mention of a pay rise meant Rooney’s statement lacked credibility.
