ANDY KEOGH has joined Cardiff on a season-long loan from Wolves, the npower Championship club have announced.

Keogh joins Cardiff on loan for season

The Republic of Ireland international joins other high-profile loan recruits at the City of Cardiff Stadium, including Manchester City’s Craig Bellamy, and Wigan’s Jason Koumas.

A statement on Cardiff’s website last night said: “We can confirm that striker Andy Keogh has this afternoon joined the club from Wolverhampton Wanderers on a season-long loan.

“Republic of Ireland international Andy will link up with the squad in Cardiff tomorrow and will be available for selection this weekend in our away trip to Portsmouth. He will wear the number 17 shirt.”

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy revealed the impending move after the Carling Cup win over Southend on Tuesday night and confirmed the deal yesterday.

McCarthy said: “Andy has been fabulous here both for me and this football club.

“It’s a good move for him to go to Cardiff and good luck to him.”

Meanwhile Portsmouth boss Steve Cotterill has admitted he is powerless to prevent Irish defender Marc Wilson leaving the club.

West Brom have had a €3.6 million (£3m) bid for Wilson turned down while Stoke are thought to be lining up a player-plus-cash deal in a bid to tempt cash-strapped Pompey to part with one of their prized assets.

And although Cotterill has told administrator Andrew Andronikou he would like to keep the 23-year-old, he is aware the decision could be out of their hands.

Cotterill said: “I have to say I really don’t want him to go anywhere, but if I get to the situation where the club needs money, I don’t know what I can do about that.

“What’s the chances of Marc being around for the weekend? It depends on what I get. There are a couple of clubs who are interested in Marc.

“It’s difficult but what do you do if someone comes in and gives you money and/or players? “Marc Wilson is a quality player, but maybe this football club is not in a position to say no.”

Meanwhile League One side Huddersfield have completed the signing of striker Alan Lee from Crystal Palace for an undisclosed fee.

The 32-year-old former Republic of Ireland targetman passed a medical with the Terriers on Tuesday and has penned a two-year deal.

Huddersfield boss Lee Clark said: “We have been looking for a different type of striker to compliment the others we already have at the club, so I’m really happy with this acquisition.
