Dunga dismissed by Brazil
Dunga indicated he was likely leave his post after Brazil’s hopes of a sixth World Cup triumph were ended by the Netherlands last Friday.
“Ending the cycle of work that began in August 2006, and ended with the elimination of Brazil from the World Cup in South Africa, the CBF announces the technical committee of the national team has been released,” a statement on the CBF’s website read. “The new technical committee will be announced later this month.”
The decision on a new manager will come from Ricardo Teixeira, president of the Brazilian federation. He will stay in South Africa to promote the 2014 World Cup, and is set to announce changes after the tournament.
Several names have already been linked with the job, including Luiz Felipe Scolari and Mano Menezes. Former Chelsea coach Scolari is one of the most popular figures in Brazil, after leading them in their last World Cup win in 2002. He recently moved back to Brazil to take charge of Palmeiras. Mano Menezes, currently at Corinthians, is also seen as one of the most gifted coaches of recent times.
