Ronaldo scores on Kildare debut

AS another former Manchester United legend might put it, impressionistically: all credit to the boy Ronaldo, like.

The stepover king was finally presented to us at Carton House in Kildare yesterday and, frankly, he didn’t put a foot wrong.

His reputation preceding him, the least we might have expected of the world’s most expensive footballer was that he would pout, preen or fall over for no apparent reason but, from the moment Ronaldo took his seat behind the microphone and was subjected to a blizzard of camera flashes, the world’s most expensive footballer – moving seamlessly between Spanish, English and Portuguese – proceeded only to charm and disarm.
