The 21-year-old was reportedly a target of both the Cottagers and Southend, but the Premier League club appear to have won the race for the youngster.

O’Donovan, an Ireland B international, will undergo a medical at the west London club when Sanchez and his squad return from Hong Kong before returning to his former side on a temporary basis.

“O’Donovan’s a young lad from Cork who we’ve agreed a fee for and he’s having his medical on Monday,” Sanchez said.

“He will then be going back on loan to Cork until the end of their season and then we’ll have a look at him.”
