A huge weight off Quinn’s shoulders
Quinn was in Ireland when Sunderland were confirmed as a Premiership side on Sunday, and the news took a huge weight off Quinn’s shoulders.
“Sunday was a day with the family. The result went our way, so I switched the phone off and went off with my wife and kids for a few hours,” he said. “I let it all sink in. It’s been a hard year for my family, I’ve been away a lot, a lot of sacrifice, a lot of bad humour coming home with the worries of the world on my mind, so I was delighted to spend the day with them.”
Quinn is adamant there can be no let-up in the workrate which has seen Sunderland clinch a Premiership place: “The hard works starts right here. We are focused on bringing the club as far as we can.”
Sunderland will play Galway United on Wednesday, August 1, during the middle of the city’s renowned Race Week.
“We will be rewarding season ticket holders by offering a reduced price to the game. They will be entitled to two tickets at €20,” said Galway United chairman John Fallon.
