Jol frustrated as Spurs fail to end drought
Spurs have not found the net in their last three games, a total of 270 minutes. Their four-point haul equals the club’s worst start to a Barclays Premiership campaign for 14 years.
The side were booed off at home for the second successive game and Jol points the finger at the lack of imagination in midfield and up front.
Jol admitted: “It is a concern. We could have been a bit more lively up front.
“But having said that, Teemu Tainio had a good chance and so did Mido, who hit the woodwork. We could have scored without playing well.
“If you want to win you have to play good football and put your chances away.
“It’s about service and creating something for yourself. Mido played his third game in seven days and we have to expect a bit more from him in the future.
“We have to show more imagination to the front players and show more imagination up front.
Fulham boss Chris Coleman was delighted with the attitude of his players after losing Jimmy Bullard to a serious knee injury last week and Luis Boa Morte with a suspected fractured cheekbone towards the end.
Boa Morte was injured in a clash with team-mate Heidar Helguson as they cleared Chimbonda’s header off the line in the closing stages.
Coleman said: “I am delighted with the performance of the players but more so with their attitude.
Spurs should have taken the lead on 29 minutes when Jenas’ cross found Teemu Tainio on the edge of the penalty area. However, the Finland international sent his left-foot shot wide.
Five minutes before the interval, Spurs almost broke the stalemate when Liam Rosenior failed to deal with a cross from Jenas and Benoit Assou-Ekotto brought a fine save from Niemi.
In the 57th minute Spurs hit the woodwork through Mido after a powerful run by Didier Zokora.
Fulham almost stole all three points when Volz brought a fine save from Paul Robinson with a powerful 20-yard drive.
