Carrick switched to Old Trafford in a deal that could ultimately be worth £18.6m to Spurs but the Dutch coach is confident his summer signings will help to overcome his departure.

Jol’s squad travel to Bolton for their Premiership opener today with Spurs sweating over the fitness of Republic of Ireland striker Robbie Keane. He is struggling with a thigh strain but Jol remains hopeful he will be fit.
