Dublin great James McCarthy reckons Ger Brennan was only trying to 'rattle a few cages' when he threatened experienced players with the axe.

New boss Brennan said after Dublin's National League loss to Mayo, which followed their Round 1 defeat to Donegal, that 'some of our fellas who've been around the block' aren't performing and are on thin ice.
