Gunners close in on Czech star Rosicky
The 25-year-old attacking midfielder is a key member of the Czech Republic’s World Cup squad.
“I am surprised it did not come to light earlier,” said Bruckner last night.
“We have tried to keep our promise to keep quiet but I must now admit that Tomas is undergoing medical tests.”
The Czech Republic playmaker has been a long-standing Atletico Madrid target and has scored 15 goals in 53 appearances for his country.
Rosicky cost Dortmund £18m — a Bundesliga record — when he joined from Sparta Prague in 2001.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace chairman Simon Jordan revealed Andrew Johnson could leave the club this week after pulling the striker out of England training to discuss his future.
Jordan has turned down an £8million bid from Bolton for the 25-year-old – who left training with Sven-Goran Eriksson’s World Cup squad to meet Jordan last night – and has also refused offers from Everton and Wigan.
But the irascible Eagles supremo insisted the former Birmingham player would not leave Selhurst Park until a club meets Jordan’s valuation.
“If Andrew leaves, it will be on the terms I determine, ” said Jordan.
“I’m happy to keep him if I do not get the fee I’m looking for. But if Andrew is to be sold, I imagine it will happen relatively quickly.
“I have a lot of respect for Andrew, and I will listen to his agenda. But he needs to understand that this situation will play out as I want it to play out.”
