Keane’s patience put to the test
So where does Robbie Keane fit in? The Dubliner is undoubtedly one of the Premiership’s star names, instantly recognisable and widely respected for his skill as well as his goals. When Tottenham won the Peace Cup in South Korea this summer, against leading clubs such as Boca Juniors, PSV Eindhoven and Lyon, not only was Keane their talisman and top scorer, but he was the only member of the side known by the local population, who remembered his heroics for Ireland at the 2002 World Cup in Seoul.
Top-scorer for Tottenham for two years and close behind Jermaine Defoe with 17 goals last season, despite alternating appearances with the young England striker, Keane is still a senior professional at the club despite being only 25, and was the top earner until the arrival of Edgar Davids.
