Keane gets warning after sub reaction
The Republic of Ireland striker stormed down the tunnel during the 1-1 draw at Birmingham on Saturday after Mido was brought off the bench.
“You can be disappointed, it’s positive when you are, but you must be careful how you show it,” said Arnesen.
“The competition is good, we have four very good strikers, so we will have to sit and have a talk with Robbie.”
Keane has found himself behind Jermain Defoe, Fredi Kanoute and Mido in the White Hart Lane pecking order but Arnesen does not want the Dubliner to leave the club.
“I’m sure he’ll train hard and when he’s needed he’ll be up to it, the team is the most important thing.
“We don’t want to see him go, he’s a great player. He wants to play but only the manager Martin Jol can make that decision. It’s who he thinks will be best on the day. It’s not a big deal so long as he stays within the team spirit.”
Jol said: “It’s not about him, it’s about the club.
“Maybe Robbie was angry but it’s not a problem for us, it’s his problem. It was difficult enough as it was.”
Spurs and Republic assistant boss Chris Hughton has claimed that Keane is staying put. “Robbie’s an integral part of our squad. He’s a good pro who hasn’t given us any problems during his time here,” he said.
“Players will always blow a gasket - but that’s understandable. Everybody wants to play and Robbie’s no different. He works very hard and when you work hard you expect to get rewards, you expect to play.”
