The Brazilian forward jinked his way past two defenders and fired an unstoppable shot into the net two minutes from time to give the Catalans a deserved win.

Milan took the lead against the run of play when Andrei Shevchenko finished coolly in the 17th minute.

Back in Milan, Inter, despite the dismissal of Adriano, booked their place in the knockout phase with a 0-0 draw at home to Valencia in Group G.

The Italian side’s 5-1 win at Valencia two weeks ago assures them a better head-to-head record if the Spanish side finish level on points with them.

Inter lead the group on 10 points from Germany’s Werder Bremen on nine and Valencia on four, with two games remaining.

The Germans had a 5-1 victory over Anderlecht with striker Ivan Klasnic scoring a hat-trick against the Belgian side. The lively Croat striker put Werder 2-0 up by the 16th minute, first with a long-range left-foot strike and then with a skilfully steered header from a corner.

Miroslav Klose settled the tie when he tapped in a rebound of his own shot. Klasnic and Daniel Jensen compounded Anderlecht’s misery with late goals.

PSV Eindhoven edged closer to the knockout phase with a 1-0 win over Rosenborg.

American forward DaMarcus Beasley put the Group E leaders ahead on 10 minutes.

Title holders Porto face a struggle to qualify from the group after Paris St Germain held them to a 0-0 draw. The champions are rooted to the bottom of Group H with two points from four games after a rain-soaked match.
