Real to pay extra 10m for Ronaldo
FIFA’s Players’ Status Committee decided that Real should pay the additional fee for the Brazil striker, who moved to Spain in a 45 million deal in August 2002, because Santiago Solari refused to join Inter.
The original transfer agreement had included Argentine Solari as part of the deal, prompting Inter to make a formal complaint to FIFA claiming they were entitled to additional money for Ronaldo.
FIFA said that the first instalment of the 10 million sum should be paid within 30 days. The world governing body also said that Real have the right to lodge an appeal to FIFA’s executive committee within 20 days.
Inter had been forced to sell Ronaldo after the Brazilian had a bust-up with then coach Hector Cuper. The Argentine was sacked by Inter last month.
