DAVID MOORES would almost certainly retain control of Liverpool as major shareholder, even if the club completes a deal to sell 30% of its shares to Thailand’s Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

Chief executive Rick Parry is in Bangkok negotiating a deal that would see Thaksin invest £60m in the Anfield club.

But it would be possible for Liverpool to organise the deal without Moores selling any of his 51% holding, although he would be reduced from majority to major shareholder.
