Roeder to check Shearer’s fitness

NEWCASTLE caretaker boss Glenn Roeder will make a late check on skipper Alan Shearer and midfielder Kieron Dyer ahead of tonight’s Premiership clash with Charlton.

Roeder to check Shearer’s fitness

Shearer missed the 1-0 FA Cup win over Southampton with a calf injury, while Dyer only made his first start since August in that game.

Michael Owen (foot), Stephen Carr (hernia) and Steven Taylor (shoulder) are still out. Charlton welcome back striker Marcus Bent after he was cup-tied for the FA Cup win over Brentford.
