ALEX FERGUSON has vowed not to rush Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s return to action.

Ferguson vows to be patient over Solskjaer’s return

Ferguson hinted the Manchester United striker could be available for Saturday’s Premiership opener at Everton after stepping up his recovery from a long-standing knee injury.

But even with Louis Saha sidelined, pushing Solskjaer into action again so quickly was an unlikely prospect given the Norwegian has spent virtually two years battling to overcome a problem which first surfaced in a Champions League tie with Panathinaikos in September 2003.

And Ferguson intends to pursue a softly-softly approach with the 32-year-old, who had not appeared in a United shirt since the 2004 FA Cup Final win over Millwall.

“Ole is doing decent training but we are not rushing him because the important thing is to get him back,” said Ferguson.
