UEFA get tough on hooligans

CLUBS could be deducted points or even kicked out of Europe in a throwback to Heysel under a new get-tough policy starting next season, UEFA announced yesterday.

European football’s governing body are planning a disciplinary clampdown in an effort to protect officials and players and punish clubs who fail to control their fans.

UEFA has come in for fierce criticism over their handling of Jose Mourinho’s two-match touchline ban following the Barcelona debacle which led to the retirement of referee Anders Frisk.

Then they were accused of being too lenient with Inter Milan, fter a flare thrown by fans struck AC Milan keeper Dida during Champions League semi-final.
