Spain draw Slovakia in play-offs

SPAIN have been drawn against Slovakia in the European Zone play-offs for a place in next summer’s World Cup finals in Germany.

Luis Aragones’ side, who could only finish second behind Serbia & Montenegro in Group Seven, will be at home for the first leg, which will be played on November 12 at the Vicente Calderon stadium in Madrid.

The return leg will take place in Slovakia on November 16.

Turkey, who finished third in the 2002 World Cup but did not qualify for Euro 2004, will play Switzerland, with the Swiss playing at home in the first leg.

The other tie sees the Czech Republic, runners-up to Holland in Group One, meet Norway. The Norwegians will host the first leg.
