ENGLAND’S soccer authorities are looking at the possibility of using sin bins to punish players.

It said the Football League and Football Association (FA) had held talks on sin bins - short periods during games in which players are sent off temporarily for lesser offences - which are already in use in rugby and ice hockey.

“We have had initial talks with the FA about it. It’s too early to talk about the mechanics and we haven’t even discussed how it would work, but it would be fair to say we are quite keen on the idea,” said Football League head of communications John Nagle.
