Ireland v Romania: Where the game was won in 60 seconds

By Simon Lewis

Key moment: With an Irish win never in any doubt, the key objective of a bonus point was achieved on 62 minutes when Tommy Bowe capped a fine move off a scrum that had been an excellent platform throughout.

Talking point: An 89,267 Wembley crowd backboned by vast Irish support crowd entered the Rugby World Cup record books as the highest attendance in tournament history and after the crackling atmosphere served up at Twickenham the night before capped another brilliant weekend for England 2015. Further kudos to the Ireland supporters for giving Romania a rousing ovation at full-time.

Key man: Keith Earls put in a two-try turn and looked sharp throughout in defence and attack despite a trip to the blood bin and eventually going off with 15 minutes to go. Ian Madigan kicked well and the fly-half kept Ireland's attack on the boil.

Ref watch: Craig Joubert gave Ireland the runaround in pre-season with his refereeing of the scrum against Wales in Dublin but there wll be few complaints with his handling of this match as the Irish pack dominated the set-piece.

Penalties conceded: Ireland 7 Romania 11

Injuries: Back three players Keith Earls and Rob Kearney looked to be the major concerns for Ireland with the left wing struggling after tackling his opposite wing and sub Kearney appearing to pick up a knock in a tackle as he went over for his 65th minute try.

Next up: The Ireland squad heads to Guilford and a week's training at Harlequins' base in Surrey Sports Park to prepare to face Italy at the Olympic Stadium next Sunday. Romania have an extra two days' rest before playing Canada in Leicester a week tomorrow.
