Reports this morning suggest the Ireland rugby camp are dealing with an unexpected injury ahead of their opening World Cup game.

First-choice inside centre Robbie Henshaw is reportedly out of contention for Saturday’s game against Canada, although the extent of his injury is not known.

Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt is set to name his team for the match this afternoon and may start Luke Fitzgerald at 12 in Henshaw’s place.

Fitzgerald has played at inside centre previously for Schmidt, during the Kiwi’s time in charge at Leinster.
