Dolphin ended the eight-match winning streak of former leaders St. Mary's College with a 12-8 defeat at Musgrave Park.

The trusty boot of Barry Keeshan did the damage for the Cork men with three penalties and a drop goal.

He landed two successful kicks in a dour, forwards-dominated first half, with St. Mary's having to soak up an amount of pressure.

The Dubliners remain without injured top scorer Gavin Dunne and although Ray Crotty landed a second half penalty and centre Mark Sexton touched down for the second week running, they could not knock Dolphin off their stride.

With Christy Condon and young tyros David O'Callaghan and Ryan Murphy standing out in the pack, they created the opportunities for out-half Keeshan to kick them home.

The slip up has seen St. Mary's fall to second place in the Division 1A table, while Dolphin still seventh overall as Garryowen, one place above them, also won today.
