Paul O’Connell is set to make his long awaited comeback to competitive rugby when he lines out for Young Munster in the AIB League against Shannon tomorrow night, it was confirmed today.

The Munster, Ireland and Lions lock has not seen any competitive action since playing in Ireland’s last Six Nations game against Scotland in March of this year.

O'Connell suffered a groin infection and several complications ensuing from the injury have kept the giant second row on the treatment table.

Should the Munster veteran come through the night’s assignment unscathed, he will be included in Munster’s squad for the visit of Cardiff Blues at Thomond Park next Saturday week.
