Elsom: O'Driscoll and back row main threat to Australia

Australia captain Rocky Elsom has targeted Brian O’Driscoll and Ireland’s back row as threats in their November international today at Croke Park.

Australia captain Rocky Elsom has targeted Brian O’Driscoll and Ireland’s back row as threats in their November international today at Croke Park.

Elsom said Ireland’s captain has been a major factor in Ireland’s success.

Elsom said: “Yeah he’s a handy player. If you look at that Six Nations tournament last year, he probably couldn’t have done any more than he did.

“A couple of crucial pick-and-drive tries close to the line, you wouldn’t necessarily say that is his role, but he got them over the line.

“He’s been pretty good for them.”

But the former Leinster player recognises that O’Driscoll isn’t the only danger man for Ireland.

“They’ve got a pretty strong back row. I think Jamie, David and Stephen were by far the best back row in the tournament last year.”
