We want to join Six Nations, says Argentina coach
Argentina head coach Marcelo Loffreda has today urged the International Rugby Board to include his country in the RBS 6 Nations.
Loffreda called on the world's rugby bosses to take more notice of the South Americans.
"We play at a sufficient level to meet the Six Nations standards," said Loffreda, whose team take on England on November 11.
"I think that it would be good for us and for them [the Six Nations' members], because they will play against a high-level team as well as the traditional five rivals.
"But we have not yet advanced the negotiations."
Loffreda also confirmed the Argentineans are ready to make an extra effort in order to be accepted.
"If they want to make the competition easier, we could be based in Europe during that period," he said.
The Argentinian national team coach made his first plea to be included in the Six Nations 18 months ago.
Since then, the Pumas have drawn 25-25 with the Lions in Cardiff.
"The International Board promised to help us but they have not pursued these plans," said Loffreda.
"They tried a little but did not do anything officially for us to be part of either the Tri or Six- Nations tournaments."
There is a chance the international board may organise an American Tri-Nations tournament with Argentina, Canada and United States - but Loffreda is not optimistic.
"I do not know if it is true," he said. "Maybe we could play it with an Argentinian A team. Even if we do play it we would still like to continue with the Six Nations ambition."
