The Heineken Kinsale Sevens will take place from April 28 to 30. More than 75 teams have already been registered for a competition that is grabbing worldwide attention.
Tournament director Tomás O'Brien said: "We are delighted to see there is high interest once again from the international rugby fraternity as this tournament kicks off shortly for the 18th time.
"The Irish Rugby Mardi Gras will happen once again in the beautiful town of Kinsale and the economical benefits it brings are very much appreciated by the club and town. The Heineken Kinsale Sevens is the place to be on the May Bank Holiday weekend. Meet you there."
Pat Maher, national events and sponsorship manager of Heineken Ireland said: "Following the 2005 Sevens, the best ever tournament, the emphasis for 2006 is to make it an even better experience for players and visitors alike.
"Kinsale RFC and Heineken are gearing up to a major celebration of this prestigious event with a full programme of quality rugby and famous Kinsale hospitality.
"The event is increasingly important to Kinsale and Cork, generating a turnover in the region of €6m (€8.6m) over the May Bank Holiday weekend, with many first-time visitors returning again with family and friends, thus bringing added tourism value.
"Kinsale RFC must be commended for their work in taking the whole event to its current standards and status. This is a valued event in The Heineken sponsorship portfolio."
