Dominici ruled out of Heineken clash
France and Stade Francais winger Christophe Dominici will not play in his club’s Heineken Cup quarter-final clash with Newcastle on Saturday at the Parc des Princes.
The Frenchman was knocked out in a clash with Italian prop Salvatore Perugini in the 35th minute of their 56-13 hammering of Italy in their final 6 Nations game.
He was then out cold on the pitch before being stretchered off and taken to hospital.
The doctors declared there was no serious injury but, according to IRB rules, a player who has suffered concussion should not play for at least 21 days.
Dominici underwent further medical examinations today.
Dominici, who will be replaced by Olivier Sarramea on Saturday, is disappointed at not being able to take part in the match.
“It makes me feel very sad,” he told L’Equipe.
“It is not every day that a player has the opportunity to play in a European quarter-final in front of 45,000 spectators, but I guess this is the wisest thing to do. My health is the priority.”
