Garryowen 33 Galwegians 11, Dooradoyle

A five-try performance from Garryowen, aided by Munster flanker David Wallace, earned Paul Cunningham's side a 33-11 over Galwegians at Dooradoyle, and the AIB League Division One's top spot.

Wallace, an unused replacement in yesterday's 15-9 Heineken Cup win over NEC Harlequins, played at number 8 and claimed the man-of-the-match award in the Limerick rain as Garryowen claimed the league's first four-try bonus point.

First half tries from prop Ross Callaghan and right wing Diarmuid O'Riordan - set up by a Wallace drive and Alan Purcell's pop pass - saw the home side into a 14-6 half time lead.

'Wegians out-half Patrick Noble, who was forced off with injury, and John Cleary had notched two penalties for the visitors.

Although right wing Barry Liddy deservedly nipped in at the right corner on 58 minutes for Galwegians, tries from backs David Heaton and Ray Niland - scoring his third in two games - and lock Donal Sheehan saw Garryowen to their second win of the season.

Fly-half Gerry Hurley converted two of those for an eight-point haul.
