Injured Taylor remians upbeat

Scotland international Simon Taylor is confident his knee ligament injury will not keep him from returning to full fitness.

The Edinburgh Gunners number eight suffered the injury in the final RBS 6 Nations game against Ireland in Dublin last month and is expected to be out for the rest of the year.

The Lions back-row forward is now moving relatively freely again but is refusing to rush his comeback to action.

Taylor told the Edinburgh Evening News: “I was aware of a strange noise and a feeling I’d not experienced before like a scrunch in my knee and knew straight away from the sharp pain I was in trouble.

“So far, I’ve had to be cautious because there is a body of opinion against rushing straight into physiotherapy before my knee has settled down again, but it is feeling fine.”

But Taylor has been grateful to his car sponsors for upgrading his Land Rover which will help his rehabilitation.

He added: “I am doubly fortunate in that as well as having access to a sponsored car to take me to and from training as soon as my injury occurred the firm initiated a switch to an automatic gearbox.”
