Half-time: France 24 Fiji 8

Two tries just before half-time gave France the advantage in their World Cup opener against Fiji in Brisbane.

Christophe Dominici and Imanol Harinordoquy both went over to put the French in front after Api Naevo had given Fiji the lead.

France enjoyed the better possession but struggled to get behind the Fiji defence.

The Pacific Islanders were undone by their own indiscipline, however, as they allowed Michalak two more penalty shots to put France back in front.

Further cracks then began to appear in the Fiji back line as the French claimed two tries before half-time.

A fluent move released Christophe Dominici down the left for their first after 32 minutes before a driving maul pushed Imanol Harinordoquy in for another.

Michalak added one of the conversions to put France in comfortable charge at the break.
