Dineen resigns as Galwegians coach
Galwegians coach Kevin Dineen is to resign at the end of this season, due to personal reasons.
A former Galwegians scrum-half, Dineen was assistant coach to John Kingston at Galwegians from 1999- 2001, during which time they reached the AIL Division 1 play-offs.
He succeeded Kingston as senior coach following the latter’s departure to Harlequins in May 2001, and during the past two seasons he has overseen the successful consolidation of Galwegians as a Division 1 team.
Chairman of Galwegians Simon Heaslip said: “We are extremely sorry to lose a Senior Coach of the calibre of Kevin. We tried hard to persuade him to remain in his position, but we fully respect his decision which is for purely personal reasons.
"We wish him the very best in his future, but we are delighted that he will continue his association with the club in some other minor capacities.”
Galwegians now begin the immediate search for a replacement senior coach.
