Australia name squad for opening All Blacks clash
Injury worries forced Australian selectors to name an expanded 26-man squad for the opening Tri Nations clash with New Zealand in Christchurch on July 13.
Outside centre Matthew Burke and replacement hooker Brendan Cannon joined hooker Jeremy Paul and number eight Toutai Kefu on the injured list following Saturday's 31-25 win over France.
Burke hurt his shoulder and was replaced at half time but he completed a recovery session early on Sunday and is expected to be fit to take on the All Blacks.
Cannon damaged medial ligaments in his knee and was left out of the squad for the July 13 match. The man who replaced him on Saturday night, Sean Hardman, was named in the squad.
Kefu is expected to overcome a broken hand while Paul was rated an outside chance of playing as he recovers from rib cartilage damage, both suffered in the first Test against France last weekend in Melbourne.
Utility back Andrew Walker was recalled to the squad after playing for Australia A against France A last week.
Rugby league converts Wendell Sailor and Mat Rogers were both included.
"We've been forced to name a larger squad for this match to cover injuries," Wallaby coach Eddie Jones said.
"Matthew Burke looked good this morning but Brendan Cannon is facing a longer period on the sidelines with a strained medial so at this stage he's not in the 26," Jones added.
Full Wallabies squad: Bill Young, Patricio Noriega, Rod Moore, Ben Darwin, Jeremy Paul, Sean Hardman, Nathan Sharpe, Justin Harrison, Daniel Vickerman, Owen Finegan, Matt Cockbain, David Lyons, Toutai Kefu, George Smith, George Gregan (capt), Chris Whitaker, Stephen Larkham, Elton Flatley, Matthew Burke (v.capt), Wendell Sailor, Mat Rogers, Daniel Herbert, Ben Tune, Chris Latham, Andrew Walker, Stirling Mortlock.
