New Zealand winger Jonah Lomu has accepted an invitation to play for the Barbarians in this summer’s British tour.

Lomu joins a squad including fellow All-Black Christian Cullen, former French captain Abdelatif Benazzi and Western Samoan Trevor Leota.

Lomu said: ‘‘I consider it a privilege to play for the Barbarians and it also gives me a chance to visit my favourite part of the world, where I also receive a great deal of support from fans which makes it extra special.’’

His availability is subject to the progress of his club team, Wellington Hurricanes, in this season’s Super 12 tournament.

The Barbarians will play England on May 26, Wales on May 29 and Scotland on June 1.
