Celtic League: Leinster win Celtic League Final

Leinster 24, Munster 20 (full-time)

Leinster, with the late flurry of tries that has been their trademark all season, have beaten Munster in the Celtic League Final at Lansdowne Road.

Tries in the final minutes from D'Arcy and Horgan gave Leinster the lead for the first time in the game.

Munster got the best possible start when Anthony Foley scored a try between the posts in the fifth minute after good work in the scrum.

Ronan O'Gara duly converted the kick.

Leinster pulled back a penalty through Nathan Spooner on 10 minutes and he kicked another on 23 minutes to pull Leinster to within one.

However, Leinster's afternoon got worse on 25 minutes when flanker Eric Miller was sent off.

Munster responded by scoring a second try through John O'Neill but O'Gara failed to convert.

After the interval the difference was the same as O'Gara and Spooner exchanged penalties, setting up a tense final quarter.

With 15 minutes to go Gordon D'Arcy handed Leinster a lifeline with a try to put them in the lead for the first time in the game.

He scored the try in the 65th minute and Nathan Spooner duly converted the kick.

Five minutes later, Shane Horgan added another try to Leinster's tally minutes before the end after Brian O'Driscoll flicked the ball onto him and he ran for the line.

Munster continued to pile on the pressure and scored a try in extra-time but it was not enough as the referee blew for full-time as soon as the conversion kick was taken.
