Heineken Cup Rugby: Stringer injury hits Munster hopes
Munster’s injury problems have been extenuated ahead of their European Cup semi-final against Stade Francais after an injury to Peter Stringer.
The scrum-half was flown to Cork last night from Dublin after he was stretchered off the field while playing for his club team Shannon, who were playing Blackrock in the All-Ireland League.
X-rays today have been inconclusive but it is believed the international forward has broken a bone in his ankle and will be out of the game for some time.
Ironically Stringer did not start last night’s match as an injury preventative measure. However, he did come on at half-time and had played 39 minutes before a late tackle grounded him.
The 23-year-old joins his fellow Irish, Munster and Shannon team-mate Alan Quinlan on the injury list as Munster look forward to their big European Cup tie on the April 21.
Although Quinlan had a cast taken off his leg today he is still very doubtful for the big match at Lille.
