Six Nations: Borthwick wins first England cap
Bath lock Steve Borthwick will win his first cap when England tackle Six Nations rivals France at Twickenham on Saturday.
Borthwick takes over from injured Saracens forward Danny Grewcock in the second row as one of three changes from the side that beat Scotland last time out.
As expected, Saracens prop Julian White was recalled at the expense of injured Gloucester tighthead Phil Vickery, but there is also an unexpected front row switch.
Wasps hooker Phil Greening, whose last England appearance was against South Africa four months ago, is back. Greening is preferred to Leicester's Dorian West, who drops down to the replacements bench. This means there is no place in the 22 for Mark Regan.
England are seeking their fourth successive win in the Six Nations Championship, but whatever happens on Saturday their grand slam hopes will be put on hold.
The foot-and-mouth epidemic has led to Ireland's remaining three matches - against England, Wales and Scotland - being postponed and they will not be rescheduled until next September at the earliest.
