Musgrave Park to host Con and Garryowen in cup final clash
It’s a repeat of last year’s final pairing at Thomond Park, which Constitution won thanks to a hotly-disputed penalty in the last minute of extra-time.
Con are also hoping to make history as they seek their first three-in-a-row since 1905, 1906 and 1907.
Garryowen will look to add to their 38 titles, the most recent which came in 2012. The head coach then was former Ireland and Munster scrum-half Tom Tierney, now fulfilling the same role with Con and recently appointed coach to the Irish women’s team.
Cork Con recorded home wins over Sunday’s Well, Bruff and Young Munster while Garryowen accounted for Tipperary sides Nenagh Ormond and Cashel before last weekend’s semi-final win over UL Bohemian.
The redevelopment of Musgrave Park is to be completed next month. For the final, spectators can only enter the ground via the Sunday’s Well end.
Ahead of the final, both sides are in AIL action on Friday night with Con hosting Dolphin at Temple Hill in Division 1A while Garryowen face Shannon at Thomond Park in 1B.
