Three things Munster must do in Marseille

Against Connacht in Galway on Saturday, Munster took an age to apply the killer blow and collect the bonus-point try that had seemed a formality having scored three first-half tries.

The visits to the opposition 22 produced too many missed opportunities that the province cannot afford to waste against stronger opposition like the European champions.

Learn from last year

Munster’s trip to Montpellier last April may have ended in semi-final defeat to Clermont Auvergne but it also represented a watershed moment for Rob Penney’s young players, who learned they can live with Europe’s best. That should not be forgotten ahead of this return trip to the south of France.

Play hurt

A little pain can go a long way and Munster must remember the anguish of their last meeting with Toulon, in January 2011 when they were demolished up front by a massive pack at Stade Felix Mayol. Carry those memories into Stade Vélodrome and no-one does revenge better than Munster.
