Robshaw: Lancaster can make Red Rose bloom

England captain Chris Robshaw has backed Stuart Lancaster to become the full-time coach of the national side following the huge forward strides made during the RBS 6 Nations.

Lancaster was put in charge of England on an interim basis while the Rugby Football Union search for the right man to replace Martin Johnson and lead them to success in the 2015 World Cup on home soil.

With Lancaster at the helm, flanked by assistant coaches Andy Farrell and Graham Rowntree, England won four games from five in the championship and only narrowly lost to eventual Grand Slam winners, Wales.

And, after hailing the progress made during the tournament, Robshaw has stated his belief that Lancaster is the right man to take the side through the next World Cup cycle.

“Stuart’s been fantastic and I think it shows in the way we’ve played so far,” Robshaw said.

“A lot of (our success) is down to Stuart and his coaching team.

“I think he is the right man.

“He’s created the right environment and it has shown that the players are going out there and playing for him.

“Whoever your boss is you have to back them and believe in the game plan they have put out there.

“He’s kept everyone in their place and connected with all the players and that’s the most important bit. We want to go out and play for him.”
