Belvedere back on top
With Cork Constitution losing away to Young Munster, Belvedere took advantage when they managed to take the points at home to Blackrock College.
Their Dublin rivals gave as good as they got, but a David Mongan try was key to their 10-9 win.
Constitution, following their win over Belvedere last week, disappointed when they went down away to Young Munster, for whom Alan Kingsley kicked two penalties to one by Gerry Hurley.
It was a huge boost for the Clifford Park club, who edged closer to third placed St. Mary’s who lost to Shannon in Coonagh.
Shannon’s victory, of course, keeps them very much on course for a top four finish and they’re now in sixth, a point adrift of Young Munster and just off Dolphin in fifth, albeit on points difference.
Dolphin delighted in their well deserved 14-3 home victory over Garryowen and they scored the only try of the game from Christy Condon to leave the light blues propping up the table.
The excitement is mounting in Division 1B with Buccaneers edging ever closer to leaders Clontarf, who they defeated at Dubarry Park. The Connacht side are two points adrift, but with a game in hand.
Ballynahinch and UCD continued to force the pace in Division Two with victories over Dublin University and Bective Rangers respectively, but the big surprise here was Clonakilty’s huge 39-7 home win over Malone.
Instonians pulled off a huge win away to Seapoint and the Leinster side lost further ground because City of Derry managed to beat Wanderers at Judge’s Road, a win that pushes them into second and Seapoint down to third.
Sunday’s Well moved up to sixth with their expected win away to Connemara, while Nenagh Ormond also had a good away win at Navan and that pushes them into seventh place from eighth.
