Munster will get the silent treatment

QUIET please! Toulon has called on its fans to demonstrate fair play in their Heineken Cup tie with Munster on Sunday.

Munster will get the silent treatment

The Toulonnais have held great store in the febrile atmosphere their Stade Mayol generates but in a bid to replicate Thomond Park, the French club has appealed on its website for fans to stay quiet when penalty kicks are being taken.

Under a headline “Opération Silence!” the club issued a statement calling on supporters to “demonstrate fair play” during the Munster encounter. “As did supporters of Munster in the first leg in Ireland, we will ask you to respect the kickers of both teams when trying to score penalties and conversions.”

Mayol has a capacity of 13,500 with just 50 tickets remaining unsold according to the club website yesterday.

Around 1,000 visiting fans are expected in the south of France, the Munster Branch having sold out its 800-ticket allocation while others are understood to have purchased tickets direct from Toulon online.
