Ulster sign Maggs in two-year deal

ULSTER have signed Irish international centre Kevin Maggs, 30, on a two-year deal. Maggs moves from Bath where he has played for the last six years.

The Bristol-born player made his Ireland debut against New Zealand in November 1997 and he has won 64 caps. “Kevin is a prominent international player who will add a wealth of experience to our squad,” said Ulster coach Mark McCall.

Meanwhile, Bobby Byrne has been appointed assistant coach to Declan Kidney at Leinster. The 42-year-old has coached University College Dublin, Irish Students, Terenure College, Leinster Schools and the Irish school’s side. He will take a career break from teaching at Gonzaga College, Dublin.
