Corinthians close gap on leaders Waterpark
The Galway side secured a merited victory over Highfield at Woodleigh Park to push themselves ever closer to the top of the table.
Waterpark’s game against Naas was postponed, but the Waterford side will be confident enough of securing the points when the tie is eventually re-fixed. Four games were postponed and the Waterpark tie was just one of the casualties of the weekend weather.
Instonians had hoped to push their way through, but the Old Wesley match was called off. Connemara, battling for a significant finish, also had to abort their journey to Derry, while Clonakilty’s game with Monkstown also fell by the wayside, not a bad thing from their point of view.
By the time the game is re-arranged, injured play-maker Terry Dillon could well be back in the team.
Meanwhile, Ballina were held to a draw by Skerries, whose display might well be enough to see them survive. The share of the spoils was crucial as they battle against Naas and Monkstown at the bottom of the table. Wanderers continued their merry run towards a top of the table place. They got a hard fight from Banbridge but eventually secured the points by winning 24-15.
Suttonians got the better of Dublin University at Station Road but it was a hard earned victory. The north Dublin side eventually won 19-14.
